Colcom Foundation

Colcom Foundation, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1996. Its mission is to promote philanthropic commitments through public engagement and dialogue. More specifically, Colcom promotes discussions on the pressing issues of our time, such as immigration policy, ecologically sustainable immigration policy, physician aid-in-dying, ecological sustainability, and more! Colcom Foundation encourages public participation in these critical topics and supports organizations providing humanitarian services, including education, healthcare access, and legal advocacy for immigrants.

Colcom also supports philanthropic causes through grants, management, and management of grants in support of organizations.

Colcom Foundation’s founder and philanthropist Cordelia Scaife May and her family have been community leaders for many years. This family has been active in their community, from public education and founded a foundation with high-profile clients, including Bill Clinton, to helping thousands of students attend college through the Colcom Foundation Scholarship Program.

Colcom’s vision is to create a national and potentially international platform that helps foster philanthropic opportunities, and support causes that are only sometimes readily embraced by popular culture. Colcom has created a forum for the American public to engage with organizations that provide humanitarian services, including education, healthcare access, and legal advocacy for immigrants.

Cordelia Scaife May is the founder and chairman of Colcom Foundation, a foundation whose mission is to promote philanthropic commitments through public engagement and dialogue. Cordelia Scaife May attended college to become an elementary school teacher but attended American University in Washington, DC. While earning her degree, she spent one year working at the United Nations as a teacher’s assistant while studying international affairs at night.

After graduating from American University with degrees in International Affairs and Political Science, Cordelia Scaife May became involved in community service work, where she began her philanthropic work focusing on education issues. She has placed many young people into colleges, including her son, who graduated from Yale College in 2017.

Colcom has supported various programs that support children in the Los Angeles area, including sponsoring several professional development workshops at USC. Colcom’s Los Angeles programs have also included support for the Skirball Cultural Center and participation in a roundtable discussion with Jessica Roy, staff writer for The New York Times Magazine, on juvenile justice and public safety issues.
