Eamon O’Rourke

Driven by Passion, Eamon O’Rourke

With over 15 years of experience, Eamon O’Rourke has established himself as an expert writer, director and actor. The veteran has worked on a wide range of projects, including short films, theatre, and music videos. In 2022, Eamon made a huge stride in his career by releasing “Asking for It”, the first feature film he directed and wrote. O’Rourke committed to the film’s completion for ten years, which has indeed been his biggest achievement. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Eamon is fluent in English and Mandarin. The film director frequently volunteers and has worked on various missions and for several organizations. Legal Hand is the most recent organization he volunteered for.

Currently, Eamon works for a production company known as Me and My Friends as executive producer and director. The company aims to bring new outlooks to conventional Holly wood films. “Asking for It” has, for instance, moved away from the usual script of a male character being the dominant force in action movies. Additionally, a lot of diversity has been reflected in the film, with female, LGBTQ+, and Native American characters equally included and featured. As a result, the film has caught the eye of many and gained a lot of recognition.

Eamon O’Rourke is also an activist who champions greatly for economic equality, immigrant rights, and reproductive justice. In addition to this, Eamon is also passionate about the NYC drug crisis and has worked with addicts over the years to better their livelihoods. The actor has also been a regular sight at protests championing the abortion rights movement, Black Lives Matter, NoDAPL and Occupy Wall Street. Previously, O’Rourke worked as a teacher for two years, following in his parents’ footsteps, who also imparted knowledge in non-conventional settings. The demise of his mother and father led to the writer and director using his art to help others cope and get through the loss of a loved one.

Eamon enjoys writing his pieces in a quiet, solitary environment after dinner, as it is at night, when most are asleep, that he achieves his peak productivity. The first few hours after getting up, O’Rourke runs his errands, while his afternoon is largely spent thinking and planning how to best tackle the tasks ahead of him. A constant reminder of his long-term goals is what the writer believes keeps him motivated and on track.
