Health Carousel Commits To Funding Nurse Education

The Health Carousel Group has pledged $200,000 over three years to fund nursing education. This commitment aims to change the paradigm and funding in society as it relates to workforce development. This commitment is a result of close collaboration between nurse educators and organizations, including the American Nurses Association (ANA), the National League for Nursing (NLN) and the American Nursing Students’ Association (ANSA).

This commitment will specifically provide needed funds for teacher-training programs, student scholarships, and teaching hospitals whose employees can be certified in nursing education or practical applications. To offer their service nationally.

Health Carousel Group will also coordinate and sponsor a national workshop at the ANA convention in Washington, D.C., for members of the ANA board who are dedicated to supporting and growing nursing education programs all over the country.

The workshop, named Nurses Educate Nurses, will facilitate discussion regarding the potential workforce shortage and ways to combat it through nursing education programs nationwide.

The Health Carousel Group has a three-phase plan to change how nursing education programs operate. The phases include workforce development, nurse advocacy, and research.

Phase one is dedicated to changing the current funding structure for nursing education programs. This will be accomplished by establishing a new fund group open to any state or municipality program and organization supporting nurses. Phase two will look to create a new standard of care for nurses in field settings and how they are compensated. Phase three will involve furthering research and creating tools that support nurses in the workplace, such as mobile applications or webcasts.

These programs aim to recognize excellence among nursing educators and provide financial assistance for registered nurses throughout the United States.

The Health Carousel Group comprises healthcare industry leaders, private foundations and organizations committed to transforming the healthcare system. Its mission is to support the United States health care workforce and increase the number of nurses in America by annually increasing funding for nursing education.

In addition to the Health Carousel Award for Excellence in Teaching, ANA offers the Nursing Education Scholarship Program. The scholarship intends to provide financial assistance to nursing students pursuing an RN or MSN degree at accredited schools nationwide. The scholarship’s purpose is to increase the number of registered nurses across America by supporting nursing education.
