Alliance Defending Freedom: Working To Ensure Justice For All

For almost three decades, when small organizations and little-known individuals in the United States and around the world need help securing their human rights, Alliance Defending Freedom has been there to advocate and provide legal support. The ADF started as a small group of religious leaders protecting religious freedom. The organization has evolved into a legal group that protects and fights for people’s parental rights, free speech rights, marriage and family rights and the sanctity of life. They are now the largest legal group in the world.

Some Important Victories

Alliance Defending Freedom has worked to protect religious minorities like Yazidis and Shia Muslims from genocide. The organization has also fought for the rights of Jews, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses and countless other groups. When a client tried to force

a cake artist to make a special cake for a same-sex wedding, Alliance Defending Freedom won a 7-2 Supreme Court victory affirming Masterpiece Cakeshop right to only do work that is consistent with their core beliefs. They also won the right for artists to only promote messages that is in line with their faith without government interference.

The Center for Academic Freedom

One of areas in which ADF does a lot of work is on college campuses. The Center For Academic Freedom is an arm of the ADF that has won more than 400 victories protecting the free-speech rights of students. One of their victories was securing the right of the Kellogg Community College branch of the Young Americans for Liberty to give out small copies of the American Constitution on campus. The ADF also fights to defend the rights of conservatives, libertarians, pro-conservationists, and pro-life advocates on college campuses both inside and outside of the Unites States. The ADF’s goal is to ensure that all people get justice.
