Ross Levinsohn
Ross Levinsohn is the Sports Illustrated CEO. He joined Sports Illustrated after three years at Yahoo as its Chief Media Officer.
He was also the President of Fox Sports Digital Media, commanding an advertising network with over $1 billion in annual revenue. Ross Levinsohn has been involved in the sports business for over 15 years. He is a member of The National Board of Directors for the National Sports Collectors Convention and has been a Member of the United States Olympic Committee Executive Board. Ross Levinsohn is also a US Navy Veteran with two deployments to Iraq as an intelligence officer.
Ross Levinsohn graduated from American University. He was a basketball team member and received the Athletic Department’s President’s Award for Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1992. Ross Levinsohn attended Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Ross Levinsohn began his career as Vice President of Sales and Business Development at BIA Digital Partners, a then-NASDAQ-listed ad network. ValueClick, Inc. acquired BIA in 2002 that has also been acquired.
He was formerly the CEO of Scout Media and Scout Media which he co-founded with Bill Simmons in 2009. Bill Simmons sold the company in 2011 to Fox Sports for $153 million.
Ross Levinsohn was selected as the CEO of Yahoo Sports. He was also a part of Groupon’s board of directors, having served for just over a year as one of five members on the board, during which time Groupon’s stock fell from a high of $20 per share to less than $4 per share, and the company laid off over 4000 employees.
Ross Levinsohn joined Fox Sports in 2014. He was, until January 2018, the Chief Executive Officer – Digital & Print Media of Fox Sports. In this role, he had responsibility for all digital and print content creation and distribution at FOXSports.com and FOXSportsDigital.
As Sports Illustrated CEO, he has been focusing on increasing Sports Illustrated’s digital presence. In an article called “The Sports Illustrated digital transformation,” Ross Levinsohn said he is focused on the consumer, not increasing digital subscribers. In May 2017, Sports Illustrated launched SI TV, a sports-focused digital streaming service.
