Yves Mirabaud

Mirabaud SCA’s senior managing partner is Yves Mirabaud. He graduated from the Geneva Institute of International Studies with a bachelor’s degree. The distinguished banker began his career working for several firms in Geneva, Zurich, New York, and Boston before joining Yves Mirabaud in 1993 and rising through the ranks to managing partner in 1996 and senior managing partner in 2012. Yves is the chairman of Mirabaud and Cie SA’s board of directors and the president of Mirabaud Abu Dhabi Limited’s board of directors.

Despite the epidemic, the bank achieved a 15% return on equity under its leadership in 2020. Even though there was a significant decline in profit between 2018 and 2019, when revenue was at an all-time high, it is excellent in the circumstances. During this period of uncertainty, the bank has employed a hedging strategy, which Yves defends as a wise decision. He explained that, while it made them appear old-fashioned and conservative, it was not in their culture to be aggressive in the market.

In terms of cost-cutting in 2020, he indicated that while no cuts were made, the bank was cautious with its spending. Conversely, Covid-19 resulted in direct cost savings in areas such as event sponsorship, travel, and amusement.

While the bank has no intentions to expand geographically at this time, Yves Mirabaud has stated that it will concentrate on consolidating its operations in the Middle East and Latin America. He said there was a plan to be more involved in real estate private equity funds, with 1 billion dollars in secured funds, and that there were plans for more transactions in the United States. When asked about ESG issues, he argues that banks can play a role in the solution and that it is up to them to direct investor money toward innovative technology that will help minimize climate change’s effects.

The harried banker is also the president of the Geneva Financial Center Foundation and a member of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s board members.
