Gino Pozzo grew up in a football-loving family. He spent his childhood growing up in Italy. He learned to love the sport from his parents, Gianpaolo and Giuliana. Mrs. Pozzo is related to the Udinese Calcio football club’s previous presidents. The Pozzo family maintains a steadfast loyalty to the Udinese club.

At 18, Gino Pozzo packed up and left Italy for the United States. While in the U.S., he earned a degree from Harvard. Pozzo left the United States and headed to Spain to be with his wife. Twenty years later, he packed up his family and headed to London. Pozzo wanted to be more present in the operations of his newly purchased football club.

When Pozzo took over the ownership of the Watford Football Club, it was in debt and struggling to win any matches. To have success, Pozzo knew he needed a long-term plan. Part of that plan was to implement a scout-driven approach for all his clubs. Pozzo would trade players among his clubs. Not only did it benefit the players, but the clubs too. The club also went through eight coaches and managers under Pozzo’s leadership strategy. His strategy has paid off.

The Watford club is holding its own in the Premier League. Pozzo continues to be a part of the club’s daily operations. Gino Pozzo invests in the club in many ways. Pozzo is investing in the squad by improving their training area. He is keeping the fans in mind by making improvements to the stadium. Fans are in support of all the changes that Pozzo continues to make.

Sir Elton John, who used to own the Hornets and is now the honorary president, will send text messages offering his support, feedback and comments. Pozzo was ranked as the fourth-best club owner in 2019.
