His Achievements

Bisht has an extensive background in finance and economics, with a great interest in emerging markets. “I have spent most of my career looking for an equity opportunity that I can focus on and understand,” he said. “At the same time, I feel very comfortable in emerging markets. Knowing what you can reasonably expect from their economies, knowing what their financial statements tell you about the story of these companies … That level of comfort is fundamental. It gives you the intuition, the confidence, and the desire to go out and make good trades.”

BEST TRADES

As part of his research, Bishti looks for companies in emerging markets experiencing rapid growth. “It’s because those companies have a very high stock price relative [to their long-term fundamental] growth potential,” he explained. “In such cases, I feel comfortable buying their stocks.” With a relatively low level of risk, Bishti said that these are some of the best trades to make.

Bisht is a regular keynote speaker at conferences, including the recent “The Manchester Conference” and the “Emerging Markets Forum 2013.” He has also participated in the “Global Investment Forum” and the US-China Financial Forum.

Bisht frequently contributes to professional journals, including the “McKinsey Quarterly” and financial journals such as The CFA Institute’s “CFA Magazine.” He has written articles for various newspapers, including The International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, and AFP.

Bisht strongly believes in the importance of analyzing companies and that understanding the fundamentals can help investors make better decisions.

“Many people on Wall Street … are driven by fear,” he said. “Fear of missing a trade, fear of not making money. The best way to protect yourself is to confidently make your decisions.”

Bisht feels that while there is no substitute for research, the role of intuition in trading cannot be underestimated.
