In May 2007, Warren resigned as CEO of Sunoco and joined Energy Transfer Partners, a privately held firm. He is known for his efforts in the natural gas industry, particularly in the United States. Warren is known to be an ardent Christian who lives in a home modeled after the New Earth.
His Early Life
Warren was born in 1955 in Gladewater, Texas. Kelcy Warren is an American businessman and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners. His father, Russel Warren, was a Methodist minister and one-time President of Texas Wesleyan University. His mother, Cherokee, the head nurse at Gladewater’s First Baptist Church, was also a contributor to the Gladewater Review newspaper. Warren is one of six children with siblings who include Paul and Julia Warren. Warren attended Clear Creek High School in Gladewater and Texas A&M University from 1974 to 1978.
His Education
Kelcy Warren was anointed the CEO and chairman of Energy Transfer Partners in May 2012. Warren attended Texas A&M though he didn’t earn his undergraduate degree there. He earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University in 1979. Afterward, Warren worked as a landman for Bradford Oil Company and later as an engineer for Amoco Production Company until 1984. In 1984, he was made an operator of Clear Creek Properties.

In May 2007, Kelcy Warren resigned as CEO of Sunoco and joined Energy Transfer Partners, a privately held firm. In 2011, he became the CEO and chairman of Energy Transfer Equity. He is an ardent believer in God who lives in a house modeled after the New Earth. In addition, he is a former president of the Rotary Club of Dallas/Plano. Warren has also worked as an operator for several oil companies, including Suncoo and Bradford Oil Company, from 1984 to 1990.
